COMPANIONS, WITH CLARITY

Privacy Policy

1. Operator and scope

companions AI is responsible for the personal information described in this notice. It covers companionschat.com and companions AI services that link to it. Other products may have separate notices.

The website is an app information and download site. Browsing it does not create an AI chat account. App information described below is processed when you use the corresponding app feature; listing a feature here does not mean it is available on every platform or version.

2. Information involved

  • Website visits: technical request information such as IP address, browser/device details, requested pages and security logs. If you allow analytics, Google Analytics receives website interaction and device information.
  • Account and eligibility: information you supply to register or sign in, account identifiers, and age or eligibility information requested by the relevant flow. A linked sign-in provider supplies the information authorized in that sign-in flow.
  • Conversations and creations: messages, generated replies, character or persona settings, story choices, saved progress, memory entries and feedback associated with features you use.
  • Optional media: images, audio or other files you deliberately submit when a supported feature requests them, together with relevant metadata and device permissions.
  • Purchases: product, subscription status, receipt or transaction identifiers, credit balances and redemption records. Your payment platform handles payment credentials under its own notice.
  • Support and safety: correspondence, reports, appeals and information needed to investigate an issue.

Conversations can contain sensitive information, such as health, beliefs, sexuality or personal relationships. You do not need to provide those details to browse the website. Avoid entering passwords, payment credentials, government identifiers, or sensitive information about others. A fictional persona is not a guarantee that a conversation is anonymous.

3. Why information is processed

Information is used to deliver requested features, generate AI replies, preserve conversations and story progress, retrieve relevant memories, authenticate access, administer purchases, resolve support requests, protect the Services and meet legal obligations. Usage information and feedback help identify errors and assess service quality. Recommendations and continuity may use your settings and interactions.

Where data-protection law requires a legal basis, we rely on performance of our agreement for requested features, legitimate interests for proportionate security, support and service administration, legal obligations for required records or disclosures, and consent where required for optional analytics, permissions or sensitive-data processing. You may withdraw consent without affecting processing that was lawful before withdrawal.

4. AI processing, memory and training

Generating a response requires processing your input and relevant context, which can include conversation history, persona settings, story state and saved memories. AI service providers may receive that information to perform the requested processing. Memory retrieval and conversation storage are different from training a general-purpose model.

Our permission to process content to operate a requested feature is not a blanket consent to unrelated model training. Any additional use of personal information for model training must have an applicable legal basis, appropriate disclosure and any required choices or consent. You may contact us to ask about provider processing or object to eligible secondary uses. This notice does not promise that third-party processing has zero retention.

Where memory controls are offered, you can review or change saved information. Deleting a memory and deleting its source conversation are separate actions. Use the available controls or contact us to request deletion of both. Do not treat generated recollections as a reliable factual record.

5. Who may receive information

Recipients can include providers performing hosting, storage, AI generation, security, authentication, analytics, payment or support functions; authorities or other parties where a lawful disclosure is required; and advisers or successors in a business transaction subject to applicable safeguards. We disclose information needed for the relevant purpose, rather than making private conversations public by default.

Public sharing features disclose content to the audience you choose. External websites, app stores and sign-in providers process information under their own policies. The website uses Google Analytics only after the choice described below. Its current integration does not send chat messages, memory entries or account credentials to Google Analytics.

6. Website cookies and analytics choices

Optional Google Analytics helps us understand website visits, page views and engagement. It can process browser and device information, online identifiers, referral information and approximate location derived from network information. Read Google’s Privacy Policy and how Google uses information from partner sites.

On this website, the analytics tag is blocked until you choose “Allow analytics.” “Reject analytics” leaves the site usable. Use at any time to change your choice. Rejecting after acceptance stops further collection through this integration and attempts to clear its first-party analytics cookies; it does not erase information already received by Google. You may also clear cookies in your browser.

We store your choice locally for up to six months. This preference storage is used to remember your request. Analytics cookies, when allowed, are configured for up to one year. The integration disables advertising signals and ad-personalization signals. A Global Privacy Control signal keeps optional analytics off, including where a previous choice allowed it. Browser “Do Not Track” settings are not a uniform technical standard.

The website does not operate an advertising-pixel or data-broker program. Its analytics choice applies to this browser and website; it does not change permissions or privacy settings inside an app. Fonts and infrastructure services can receive technical requests needed to render or deliver pages.

7. Retention, deletion and security

We retain personal information for the purposes described here, taking account of the feature, your account and deletion choices, safety needs, dispute handling and legal recordkeeping duties. Account content supports ongoing use until removed or no longer needed. Transaction and compliance records may need to remain after account deletion. Backup copies may persist until their normal replacement, and legally required records may be restricted rather than immediately erased.

Use available account controls or contact us to request access, export, correction or deletion. We may need reasonable information to verify your request, and will explain any applicable exception. Deleting an account does not cancel an App Store subscription; cancel it through the store separately.

We use safeguards intended to protect information, but no online system is completely secure. Do not assume conversations are end-to-end encrypted or accessible only to you: processing by authorized systems and personnel can be necessary for service delivery, support, security or legal obligations.

8. Your rights and requests

Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to know or access personal information, obtain a portable copy, correct it, request deletion, restrict processing, object to certain uses, withdraw consent, or opt out of sale, sharing, targeted advertising or qualifying automated decisions. Eligible California residents may also request limits on certain uses of sensitive personal information. Exercising applicable rights will not result in unlawful discrimination.

Email info@companionschat.com with “companions AI privacy request.” Describe the request and the account or browser context involved. An authorized representative may act for you subject to appropriate verification. Do not send identity documents unless requested through an appropriate process. We will respond within the period required by the law that applies to your request and explain any permitted extension or refusal.

If you disagree with our response, reply with “Privacy appeal” and explain why. Where available, you may complain to your state regulator or data-protection authority. EEA and UK residents may contact their local supervisory authority. This notice does not waive any statutory rights.

9. International processing and age eligibility

We are based in the United States. Information may be processed in the United States or other countries where relevant providers operate, with different privacy laws. When applicable law requires a transfer safeguard, the relevant transfer must use an authorized mechanism, such as recognized contractual safeguards or an applicable adequacy arrangement. Contact us for information about safeguards relevant to your data.

companions AI is intended for people aged 18 or older. If you believe someone under 18 has provided account or conversation information, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate restriction or deletion steps. We do not knowingly invite children to use the Services.

10. Changes and contact

We will update the date on this page when the notice changes and provide additional notice or request consent when required for a material change. This notice describes companions AI; it does not replace the separate policies of unrelated apps or websites.
